In the 1950s my Grandpa Alvie Herndon was guiding local hunters. At that time as far as I know he was the only duck guide in our area. He was the best at calling ducks, and he told me stories of times he would be calling and have other hunters sneak up to him thinking he was a duck!
When I was about 13 he sat me down on his porch and began to teach me about calling ducks. A few years later I lost my grandpa and at that time I started having a great desire to start guiding duck hunters through the same land Grandpa did.
Although it took me some time to buy land, build a lodge and with the help of great friends, family and God, 10 years ago I did it and since then we have hunted several thousands of hunters and even some celebrities.
I try to make everyones stay at Big Creek a great one, my goal is to make everyone feel like family.
